Samsung Galaxy screens are some of the most satisfying to replace yourself — the results are near-original when you pick the right part. This guide covers Galaxy A-series, S-series and Note models.
The Samsung-specific things to know
Fingerprint sensor: S-series and newer models have an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor built into the screen. This means you must choose an OLED or OEM tier — a Budget INCELL screen won't support it. Curved edges: S-series "Edge" displays are curved and bonded tightly, so gentle, even heat is essential.
The process
- Power off and warm the screen edges to soften the adhesive.
- Use the suction cup and pry tools to open — go slowly on curved-edge models.
- Disconnect the battery first, then the display connectors.
- Transfer any brackets, connect the new screen, and test touch and the fingerprint sensor before sealing.
- Apply fresh adhesive and press firmly around all edges.
Choosing your tier
For any Galaxy with an in-display fingerprint sensor, go Pro OLED or OEM. For older A-series with a side-mounted sensor, Budget is fine.
