Samsung Galaxy batteries are very replaceable at home, but there's one key difference from iPhones: most Galaxy phones open from the back glass, not the screen. Here's how to do it safely.
Before you start
Set aside 45–60 minutes. Samsung back panels are glass, bonded with strong adhesive — patience and gentle heat prevent cracks. Back up your phone first.
The process
- Power off and warm the back panel edges for 1–2 minutes to soften the adhesive.
- Use a suction cup and thin pry tools to lift the back glass — work slowly around all edges.
- Remove the screws holding the internal cover, then lift it off.
- Disconnect the battery connector first.
- Release the battery adhesive (a little isopropyl alcohol around the edges helps), and ease the old battery out — never bend or puncture it.
- Fit the new battery, reconnect, and test before re-sealing the back with fresh adhesive.
